This position is located in Fort Jones, California; located at the Quartz Valley Indian Reservation.
The Regional Research Institute for Human Services at Portland State University invites applications for an Evaluation/Outreach Coordinator. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Gil-Kashiwabara and Hyuny Clark-Shim to assist in the research evaluation activities directly related to the goals of the Circles of Care project.
The purpose of the Circles of Care program is to provide tools and resources to design systems of care to support mental health and wellness for children, youth, and their families in American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities. Stakeholders, leaders and community members collaborate to develop a communication plan within the clinic and between the clinic and the community. They also work to increase capacity of the community health program and to develop a community-wide Health Promotion/Disease Prevention program that can also address substance abuse. Ultimately, it is anticipated that the Circles of Care program will facilitate the development of an integrated, holistic and culturally-relevant system of mental health care for AI/AN children and youth, ages 0-25, diagnosed as, or at risk of becoming, seriously emotionally or behaviorally disturbed (SEBD) and their families. The Circles of Care project is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The project is being conducted by the Quartz Valley Indian Reservation in collaboration with Portland State University for the Evaluation.

Research Analyst 1 - Proposed Start Date 02/16/2015

The Research Analyst I position performs activities associated with carrying out pre-planned data collection activities for a national evaluation study and a local evaluation study that include data collection and submission for a federally funded system of care. The local evaluation study was developed through a collaborative and family-driven process with multiple community representatives and partners. Evaluation activities involve a longitudinal study of children and families served by the Yellowhawk Tribal Health Center, which is based at the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation in Mission, Oregon. This position is as an employee of Portland State University but will be located at the Yellowhawk Tribal Health Center. As an active member of the evaluation team, this position will be closely supervised by the Yellowhawk Lead Evaluator and Evaluation Project Manager with the employee being supported in carrying out defined activities with study participants. The employee will implement a full range of study assessments and protocols, as well as report evaluation processes and findings to the evaluation team. The employee will receive regular supervision around activities such as data collection, following research protocols, and closely tracking dates of follow up assessments. With close and direct supervision, the Research Analyst I will conduct the activities outlined in the posting.
